Welcome to Snow Rover

The remote controlled hybrid Snow Thrower.

Snow Rover

The remote controlled Snow Rover is ready for snow. Are you?

Going outside to clear the snow on your driveway can be treacherous due to the risk of slipping/falling, the blowing snow and the cold. If you hate fighting the elements and wrestling with your snow thrower, you now have a perfect solution for a safe snow removal operation. Don’t get left out in the cold!

UPDATE: See our latest video – Ariens Deluxe 24″ or 28″ conversion (Installing the Track Drive).

Frequently Asked Questions

Operating the Snow Rover

You can operate the Snow Rover from your garage, sitting in your car, porch or by looking outside through a window of your home.
With an optional FPV camera or GoPro camera you can stream live video from the Snow Rover.
Clearing snow from some areas of your driveway may require you to step outside, so you should use proper judgement.
NOTE: The Snow Rover is meant for use by persons over the age of 16. The operator should NOT be under the influence of medications, alcohol or other substances that can impair your judgement (you wouldn’t do this if you are driving a car?).

The gasoline engine powers the auger and the impeller that throws the snow. NEVER use your hands to clear up the clogged up snow, instead stop the engine and use the clearing tool provided.

If you expect snow in the forecast, ensure that the batteries are fully charged. With a 10 Amp fast charger, the batteries can be recharged in less than 90 minutes.
The track drive can be powered by the gasoline engine in manual mode (if you have a power outage and unable to charge the batteries).

Snow Rover’s drive motors and actuators are powered by deep cycle 50Ah lead acid GEL batteries or lithium batteries. If you live in areas that get multiple feet of snow, we recommend 100Ah lithium batteries. Lithium batteries are lighter than lead acid batteries.

Snow Removal

The Snow Rover can easily handle 15 inches of wet snow. If you expect more, it is a good idea to clear snow in between the storm.

The Snow Rover is easy to use, and it is remote controlled!

  1. The Snow Rover you see above is a modified Ariens Deluxe snow thrower. The front end will not lift up, due to the unique positioning of the heavy batteries in the back.
  2. There is no need to shift gears, the variable speed motors are powerful and reversible.
  3. The auger can be engaged and disengaged by flipping a switch on the radio transmitter.
  4. The snow discharge chute is operated remotely as well. The chute can rotate over 200 degrees and stop in any desired position.
  5. Start the gasoline engine as usual using electric or pull start, step away and operate the Snow Rover remotely.
  6. Fully charged, high capacity 51 Ah batteries will power the Snow Rover for about an hour. Check out this video – the entire driveway and walkway was done with one charge.

The Snow Rover with a standard wheel drive can slide down on surfaces with a grade of 10 percent or higher.
The track drive model can be used on steep driveways (if you operate it carefully), up to a grade of 20 percent.
Check out this video of the snow rover clearing snow on steep driveway.
How to calculate the grade for driveways?
The Snow Rover is NOT recommended for driveways with a grade above 20 percent.

A few drops of water should not cause any damage (and it can handle slushy snow), but don’t use the Snow Rover when it is raining. The motors and electronic components can get damaged and repairs can be expensive.

Start clearing snow in the middle of your driveway or snow removal area. After that you move outward, while orienting the snow discharge chute to throw snow away from the area that you just cleared. Following this snow removal strategy, you will reduce the need to reorient the snow discharge chute and save you time.
